The Biarritz Basque country Surfing Destination hosts many events, festivals, Surf Art exhibitions or competitions across all of its surfing spots, organised by the cities, associations or brands.
Another chance to explore the different worlds that make up the surf culture.
From 19th to 22th april
It was created in 1984, making it the oldest surfing competition in Europe. This Easter weekend event brings together around 250 surfers from across Europe every year to compete on the Grande Plage’s waves in Biarritz.
Day of gliding
June 2nd in Hendaye
A whole day dedicated to discovering gliding for free for beginners and children: an introduction to surfing, trying out the equipment, a summer market, beach events… supervised by certified professionals (equipment provided).
FromMay 27th to June 2nd in Biarritz
C'est la troisième fois que Biarritz organise des championnats du monde ISA après ceux de 1980 et 2017. Il s'agira en outre des cinquièmes championnats du monde ISA organisés en France après ceux de 1980 (Biarritz, surf), 1992 (Lacanau, surf), 2008 (Seignosse, surf junior) et 2017 (Biarritz, surf). Une trentaine d'équipes venues des cinq continents et composées de quatre athlètes, deux hommes et deux femmes, sont attendues pour une compétition qui s'étalera sur sept jours sur les vagues de la Côte des Basques. Un spot qui a vu naître la pratique du surf en 1957 et une vague idéale pour la pratique du longboard.

The annual event for fans of stunning motorbikes, surfing, skateboarding and vintage. An eclectic cultural offering from a range of influences: art, music, 2 wheels and surfing!
The 2019 edition will take place from the 12th to the 16th of June in the Cité de l'Océan in Biarritz.
From June 26th to July 1st in Biarritz
The festive event to open the summer season in Biarritz: bodegas and restaurants flood the Côte des Basques. The Casetas are brought to life by bands and DJs, and are first and foremost an invitation to a family outing or a meal with friends. It’s a unique chance to enjoy one of the most beautiful areas of the Basque coast through an intergenerational and friendly party.
From July 10th to 13th in Anglet
Since 2003, the festival has been a point of reference and an unmissable event for lovers of outstanding underwater images in the world of surfing. It is free to access for everyone to enjoy the giant outdoor screens set up along the forecourt of the Chambre d’Amour to discover the best competing surfing movies.
July 19th, 20th and 21th in Biarritz
3 days of music, happiness and ocean in the Basque Country for the first edition of Biarritz in summer: the pop music, Basque and eco-responsible festival for July, located in the gardens of the Cité de l'Océan and the Plage de la Milady.
Every Thursday in July and August in Biarritz
Biarritz invites the public to share their summer evenings on Thursdays in the gardens of the Cité de l'Océan. When going to the beach, with friends or family, until sunset, this summer event offers a range of exceptional artists: concerts or acoustic duets, the circus or acrobats, contemporary or urban dancing, outdoor shows or cinema.
The purpose of this festival is to encourage the development of the local culture through music, skateboarding and street art.
August 19th in Anglet
Part of the "Specialty Event" category of the World Surf League (WSL), this spectacular event has become a must-see. The Night Surfing brings together the best European surfers for a night show: the only competition where the boards are equipped with LEDs.
From August 21st to 26th in Anglet
This is the second and final French stop of the World Surf League Qualifying Series (WSL): the opportunity to see top-level surfing with competitors from around the world and to take advantage of the many activities planned for the event in the Chambre d'Amour
The day of gliding around the skate park of La Barre: surfing, skateboarding, rollerblading & Euskara. A very fun day dedicated to discovering various forms of gliding, but also the Basque language and cultural diversity.
